Provisional Business Consultant
This pathway confirms you meet the entry criteria for the Certification Programme.
Once completed you will be issued with a Provisional Business Consultant Certificate. You are then eligible to undertake the Certification Programme, which you must complete within three years.
Profile:
At the start of this process, you will have the following profile:
- Existing business experience or academic business qualifications, but little or no consulting experience.
- Start of a business network, i.e. business contacts and sources that can provide information and advice.
- Be developing an understanding of the machinery of government and how it impacts on business (e.g. some knowledge of business compliance and relevant regulations).
- Have some familiarity with the local business environment such as professional bodies and local councils.
- Have some cross-cultural awareness and communication skills.
- Have the ability to influence and facilitate change, to make decisions and to achieve outcomes.
Pathway Criteria:
To be recognised as a Provisional Business Consultant and qualify for IABC’s Certification Programme, you must provide evidence of either:
- Academic business qualifications such as accountancy, economics or other similar business disciplines, or
- Skills and experience in working within business or economic development and/or business training or education.
Assessments:
There are no assessments at the Provisional Business Consultant pathway.

Ongoing fees
- $200 excl gst per annum.
- $350 excl gst assessment fee payable once every three years.
