Maintaining Certification

Business practice, technologies, standards, legislation as well as the marketplace are constantly changing. For this reason, Consultants are required to undergo continuing professional development (CPD) in order to maintain their IABC Certification.

Any professional development you undertake for the purpose of maintaining certification should be within the scope of IABC’s competency framework. Contact IABC’s secretariat, or an IABC Customer Service Centre, or one of the approved Facilitators for a list of approved course or more information on appropriate CPD.
Every three years from the date of issue of the certificate, consultants will be required to provide evidence of:

  • A minimum of 20 hours CPD within the previous three years within the scope of IABC’s competency framework.
    Note that for semi-structured courses, every two hours of the course are accepted as one CPD hour.
  • A minimum of 10 completed case studies or 400 hours consultancy time within the previous three years, and within this scope nominate three referrals.
